Europe has rules that restrict the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) in order to protect human health and the environment. The rules also cover the environmentally sound recovery and disposal of waste EEE:
"DIRECTIVE 2011/65/EU OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 8 June 2011 on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment"
and its amendments.
Habasit will be glad to provide our customers with two RoHS statements confirming compliance with this Directive. One statement is related to belting products and auxiliaries, the other covers joining tools.
China introduced its own updated RoHS legislation in 2016. This restricts the same metals and flame retarders, and applies the same limits, as the EU RoHS Directive. China RoHS applies only to products listed in the "Catalogue of Electrical and Electronic Products Subject to Compliance Management". Based on this, conveyor and power transmission belts, as well as related auxiliaries, are out of scope of the legislation.
Habasit will be glad to provide our customers with a statement confirming that our belting products are not subject to the current China RoHS, and verifying that they do not contain listed hazardous substances exceeding the defined limits.
