Energy Saving on Twisters

    Indian company Rajasthan Spinning and Weaving Mills Limited (RSWM) is a leading player in the textile sector and has several branches throughout the country. RSWM exports a wide range of yarn and fabric to over 60 countries across Europe, South Africa, Australia, Korea, Singapore, Egypt and the Gulf countries. With nearly 30% of RSWM's production exported, the company has a significant presence in the world of textiles.

    The application involved is on Leewha TFO (two for one) twisters. A twister is a machine which twists two or more strands of spun yarn into a stronger single strand.

Measures
Together with the maintenance and electrical department crew of RSWM, analyses were made to check the energy consumption of their twisters equipped with Habasit power transmission belts, to compare these with competitors' polyamide products.One study was performed at the Gulabpura unit where the TC-35/30ER type is installed; the second test took place at Banswara, where the machinery is equipped with a TC-35ER.

Benefits
The results showed clear advantages with the Habasit Polyester Power Transmission Belts. In the first study with TC-35/30ER, a saving of 4.3% was achieved. The TC-35ER showed a 6.1% saving.All the results were confirmed by the mills' personnel, who controlled and observed the tests.
